About IHCC
The Story of IHCC
A cultural centre in George Town devoted to preserving, presenting and celebrating Indian heritage.
Our Purpose
A Living Home for Indian Heritage
The Indian Heritage Cultural Centre is a cultural centre in Penang, Malaysia, established to preserve, present and celebrate Indian heritage through wide and historic collections with immersive spatial design. Every room is composed so that objects are not merely displayed, but encountered.
IHCC is a collaborative heritage initiative that brings together experienced collectors, cultural visionaries and architectural expertise. The centre is dedicated to conserving artefacts of historical and cultural importance and presenting them in a meaningful, educational and accessible manner.
The collection focuses on heritage collectibles, vintage artefacts and culturally significant objects — with particular emphasis on vintage scooters, memorabilia and traditional artefacts that reflect everyday history and craftsmanship.
Preservation
Artefacts of historical and cultural importance are conserved with care, so that the material memory of Indian heritage in Penang endures for the generations that follow.
Cultural Education
Every object is presented in a meaningful, educational and accessible manner — inviting visitors to learn the stories behind Tanjore paintings, Pichwai and Pattachitra art, Nagarathar traditions and more.
Immersive Experience
IHCC is designed to be felt, not just seen — from sari and traditional dress-up to the Seeking & Learning Hall, heritage becomes something you step inside.
George Town
Set at 57 Lebuh Pantai in the heart of George Town’s UNESCO-listed streetscape, IHCC belongs to a city where cultures have met, traded and flourished for centuries.
